A wrongful death lawsuit was filed Friday on behalf of a woman who was fatally hit by a trolley car in the Loop two months ago.

Hiromi Hosono, 42, was hit in the crosswalk Nov. 21, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. as the bus turned right onto Michigan Avenue from Monroe Street, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Hosono; of Ithaca, New York; was pronounced dead at the scene a few minutes later, authorities said. Her death was ruled an accident.

David A. Epstein, who is listed as the administrator of Hosono’s estate, filed the lawsuit Friday against The Chicago Trolley and Double Decker Company and its parent companies, as well as the bus driver. The suit claims their negligence led to Hosono’s death.

The 49-year-old woman driving the trolley was issued a citation for striking a pedestrian in a crosswalk, police said at the time.

A representative for the trolley company could not be reached for comment Friday night.

The six-count suit seeks at least $300,000 in damages.
