Man dies after crashing dirt bike into minivan in Washington Park

A 30-year-old man died after crashing a dirt bike into a minivan Sunday in Washington Park on the South Side.

He was riding the four-wheel bike alone about 9:05 p.m. in the 5800 block of South Russel Drive when he struck a parked Dodge Caravan, Chicago police said.

The man was pronounced dead at the University of Chicago Medical Center, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified him as Shannon D. Boatman, of Lawndale.

Autopsy results found Boatman died from his injuries in the crash and ruled his death an accident, the medical examiner’s office said.

Chicago police’s Major Accidents Unit is investigating.
