A northwest suburban Lakewood man won $550,000 with a Quick Pick lottery ticket, the Illinois Lottery announced Thursday.

John Tyrrell, 58, bought the winning Lucky Day Lotto ticket at the Circle K at 355 Randall Road in South Elgin, according to the Lottery. His ticket matched all five numbers – 08-15-18-19-44 – in the midday drawing April 11.

“When I play Lucky Day Lotto, I always get a Quick Pick,” Tyrrell said in a statement.

Tyrrell, married with three children, said he plans to buy a new house and invest for his retirement with his winnings.

Circle K will receive a one percent bonus of $5,500 for selling the winning ticket.
