A man was shot during an attempted robbery Thursday night in the Roseland neighborhood on the Far South Side.

The 45-year-old was standing outside at 8:43 p.m. in the 10900 block of South Vernon when two people walked up and tried to rob him, according to Chicago Police. He tried to run away, at which point one of the suspects pulled out a gun and opened fire.

The man was shot in the right thigh and was taken by an acquaintance to Roseland Community Hospital, where he was treated and released, police said
