A man was shot and critically wounded Thursday afternoon in the West Side Austin neighborhood.

At 12:11 p.m., someone fired shots from a dark-colored SUV in the 5500 block of West North Avenue, striking the 22-year-old in his left side, according to Chicago police

He was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood in critical condition, police said.

Area North detectives were investigating.
