Man dies after being struck by paving equipment in Lake Zurich

A man died after being struck by a piece of equipment Wednesday at an asphalt paving business in northwest suburban Lake Zurich.

Police responded at 1:43 p.m. to a call of a man who was struck by a piece of paving equipment at Chicagoland Paving Contractors, 225 Telser Rd., according to a statement from Lake Zurich police. No other injuries were reported.

The man was identified as 58-year-old Jack Eiler of Ingleside, according to Lake County Coroner Dr. Howard Cooper. He was pronounced dead the scene.

Preliminary findings of Thursday’s autopsy found Eiler died of traumatic injuries, but the final results are pending toxicology and additional tests, Cooper said.
