Man shot in Austin

A man was shot Saturday night in the West Side Austin neighborhood.

The 33-year-old told investigators he was standing outside about 10:20 p.m. in the 5400 block of West Augusta when he heard gunfire and realized he’d been shot, according to Chicago Police.

He suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the body and later showed up at West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, where he was listed in serious condition, police said.

A police source said the man is a documented gang member.

The men, 18 and 20, were in the 1800 block of West Monroe Street about 9:20 p.m. when two people got out of a light-colored sedan and fired shots. They were hospitalized in fair condition.
