Man shot in South Austin

A man was shot early Wednesday in the South Austin neighborhood on the West Side.

The 24-year-old male was walking when an unknown person attempted to rob him of his property and shot in the arm about 1:21 a.m. in the first block of South Menard Avenue, according to Chicago Police.

Nothing was stolen and the offender ran away after the shooting, police said.

The man was taken to Loyola University Medical Center where his condition has been stabilized, police said.

No one is in custody as Area North detectives investigate.
