A woman was shot and seriously wounded late Sunday in the Bronzeville neighborhood on the South Side.

At 11:52 p.m., the 33-year-old was a passenger in a black SUV driving north in the 5000 block of South Drexel when she heard gunfire and realized she’d been shot in the back, according to Chicago Police.

The driver of the SUV took her to Mercy Hospital, police said. She was listed in serious condition and transferred to Stroger Hospital.
