Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg was a major financial player in the election of U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly, D-Ill., nearly two years ago.

Now that she’s up for reelection, his Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund hasn’t forgotten her.

The Bloomberg group funded a $12,500 ad for Kelly, featuring Nate Pendleton, the father of the late Hadiya Pendleton, who was gunned down in a Chicago park.

Kelly is reportedly the only federal candidate benefitting from an ad buy from the gun control advocacy group.

Kelly was elected to the 2nd Congressional District seat after former U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., D-Ill., resigned amid a federal investigation. Jackson is now serving a 30-month sentence.

Kelly faces Republican Eric M. Wallace on Nov. 4.
