Bears coach Marc Trestman said Monday that Brandon Marshall has been released from the hospital after the receiver suffered two broken ribs and a serious lung injury last Thursday against the Dallas Cowboys.
Marshall’s stay at Northwestern Memorial Hospital was extended because of his lung injury. He was released on Sunday.
After coach Marc Trestman indicated that moves were coming, the Bears placed Marshall on injured reserve late Monday afternoon. Receiver Josh Bellamy was elevated to the active roster. The Bears also signed former Illinois linebacker Jonathan Brown to the practice squad.
Marshall was injured in the second quarter against the Cowboys when he was kneed hard in his back after making a catch on fourth down. After needing help off the field, Marshall was transported by ambulance to the hospital at halftime.
