Remember that Shaq vs. Scottie Pippen Instagram war from about a week ago that wouldn’t end?
It still hasn’t.
On “The Big Podcast with Shaq” (what else would it be named?), the Hall of Fame center continues his rant against Pippen, calling him a “bum” and “second-fiddle.” At one point, Shaq asks what did Pippen ever do after Michael Jordan left, besides whine about not getting to take a last-second shot. Shaq says Phil Jackson let Toni Kukoc take it because he was “a better player” than Pippen.
Shaq also claims that Pippen started the whole fight by making it personal:
I didn’t even make the picture. Some other little guy made the picture, so I just took it. It was the five best Lakers and the five best Bulls and I said ‘we beat them by 50.’ That’s how I feel and I’m sticking to it. I didn’t say ‘Hey, Scottie Pippen, we’ll beat you guys by 50.’ ‘Hey, Dennis Rodman, we will beat you guys by…’ I just said, ‘I’ll beat you by 50.’ Now, he made it personal when he said, ‘Oh, Shaq, I don’t believe in hypotheticals.’ He swung first so I’m going to swing second and I’m going to swing last because I don’t let bums disrespect me. Yeah, he was a great player, but I’m the bridge, he’s the water, he will always be under me. Every now and then he will rise to the occasion to get to the same level as the bridge but when reality kicks in, I’m bridge, he is water, he is under me. Scottie Pippen can’t disrespect me. So he comes at me, I’m coming back and we can do this all day because I have nothing else to do.
Settle in and give it a listen; it’s classic Shaq. The best part begins around 5:00
To recap, the whole incident started over this Instagram post by Shaq.
Here’s what followed:
Pippen nicely reminded Shaq as to who won more NBA Championships.
To which Shaq reminded Scottie who the alpha dog was on those Bulls championship teams.
Then Scottie took aim at Shaq’s horrible free-throw shooting.
Again, Shaq hit the sidekick shot at Scottie.
… and again.
As Scottie did his whole career, he countered with good defense.
Then Shaq really clanked a couple of shots.
