A man was fatally shot April 23, 2020, in the 13200 block of South Rhodes Avenue.

A man was killed in a shooting Thursday near Altgeld Gardens on the Far South Side, police said.

Officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert about 4:53 p.m. in the 13200 block of South Rhodes Avenue and found the 35-year-old with gunshot wounds to the head and chest, Chicago police said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified him as Mario Lavelle Williams, of Dolton.

Area South detectives are investigating.
