Those list masters at thedailymeal.com have done it again: They’ve included a Chicago icon among their list of the Top 31 best boardwalks for food.

Chicago’s Navy Pier lands at the No. 13 spot on the list for good reason, according to the website: “Even with the gorgeous Chicago skyline as your backdrop, strolling along the Navy Pier in Chicago will make you feel like you’ve been swept away to a fabulous waterfront resort. Dine at hotspots like the City Porch for pomme frites and po’ boys. Afterward, meander over to the Churro Factory and share a few chocolate-covered churros.”

Navy Pier takes its place alongside some of the most iconic boardwalks in the nation, including: Ocean City (No. 2, Maryland), Atlantic City (No. 4, New Jersey), Asbury Park (No. 18, New Jersey), Virginia Beach (No. 6, Virginia), Coney Island (No. 9, Brooklyn), and Fisherman’s Wharf (No. 12, San Francisco).

Tops on the list is the legendary Mission Beach Boardwalk in ever-sunny San Diego (“With a gorgeous panoramic view, a lively culture, and an overflow of tasty foods … There are many gourmet resort spots that are worth a visit, but the carry-out eateries on the boards are some of the best around,” the website states.

Some of the website’s criteria used to determine the list:

— social media: the amount of followers they had on Twitter (Navy Pier has over 13,000) and Facebook, noting how often they posted about the food scene on their boardwalks, and how many “deals” they post.

— quantity of restaurants (Navy Pier has 8 restaurants, a massive food court, and outdoor seasonal pop-ups including a beer garden) on or just off of the boards (had to be highly rated places, and there had to be a wide variety of eateries.)

— atmosphere: surrounding the boardwalk (hello Lake Michigan!) and eateries, as well as the fun-factor of it being bustling with fun people.
