35-year-old motorcyclist dies after Bolingbrook crash

A 35-year-old man died three days after his motorcycle crashed in southwest suburban Bolingbrook, authorities said.

William Sladek was riding a motorcycle at Reagan Boulevard and Lincoln Avenue at 12:47 a.m. Sunday when his bike struck the raised median, according to Bolingbrook police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

It appears Sladek rode the median eastbound for about 60 feet before he was thrown from the bike, police said. He was unconscious when authorities arrived at the scene and had suffered serious injuries to his head, arm and legs.

Sladek, of Lombard, was initially taken to Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital, but was later flown to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where he died at 9:32 p.m. Wednesday, according to police and the medical examiner’s office.

An autopsy found he died of head injuries from the crash, and his death was ruled an accident, according to the medical examiner’s office.

The Bolingbrook police traffic unit is investigating.
