Two lanes of northbound Lake Shore Drive will close overnight Friday near Navy Pier for work on the new flyover pedestrian bridge, according to the Chicago Department of Transportation.

Right lanes of the northbound drive between Illinois Street and Grand Avenue will close at 8 p.m. Friday and reopen at 6 a.m. Saturday, CDOT said. Severe weather could push the project into Sunday.

The lane closures will allow for installation of enclosure posts for the new Navy Pier flyover pedestrian and bike bridge between Lake Shore Drive and Lake Point Tower, CDOT said.

A single lane of northbound Lake Shore Drive is scheduled to close between Illinois and Grand from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday for additional work on the project, CDOT said.
