Two men were found shot to death early Monday in southwest suburban Joliet, police said.

Officers responding about 2:10 a.m. to a call of two people shot in the 400 block of Sherman Street found the men unresponsive in a maroon SUV in an alley, according to Joliet Deputy Police Chief Al Roechner.

Both men had been shot, Roechner said.

Clark D. Travis, 49, of Urbana; and Jonathan L. Fairly, 25, of Joliet, were both pronounced dead at the scene at 4:38 a.m., according to the Will County coroner’s office. Both of their deaths were ruled homicides. Autopsies were scheduled for Tuesday.

Someone who was walking in the area discovered the victims and called police, but there were no witnesses to the shooting, Roechner said. As of Tuesday morning, no one was in custody.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact Joliet police at (815) 724-3020.
