Bond was set at $100,000 Friday for a Northwest Side man charged with reckless homicide following a fatal hit-and-run crash earlier this month in the Logan Square neighborhood.

Demetrius Frayzier, 30, faces felony counts of reckless homicide and leaving the scene of an accident involving injury of death, according to Chicago Police. He was taken into custody Tuesday.

About 4 a.m. Nov. 3, Frayzier was driving south on Western Avenue when his vehicle continued through a red light and struck a vehicle driven east on Logan Boulevard by 62-year-old Aliser Maldonado, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s.

Maldonado, of the 2800 block of North Milwaukee, was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he died at 4:29 a.m., authorities said.

Frayzier, of the 5500 block of North Mango, kept driving and never called in the crash, police allege.

He was arrested Tuesday and jailed on a $100,000 bond at a Friday hearing, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office. He is due in court again Monday.
