Multiple people shot with paintballs in Evanston

Evanston police are seeking information from the public after multiple people were shot with paintballs Wednesday in the north suburb.

Between 7:20 and 7:33 p.m., police received four reports of people being shot at or struck by paintballs fired from a passing vehicle, Evanston police said.

The incidents were reported:

• About 7:20 p.m. in the 1000 block of Dodge Avenue when a 45-year-old woman was getting out of her vehicle with her 2-year-old child when she was struck by two paintballs fired from a passing vehicle;

• about 7:25 p.m. in the 900 block of Ashland Avenue when four juveniles reported someone in a dark vehicle fired at them with an unknown air-type gun and one of the juveniles was struck in the head;

• about 7:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of Emerson Street when a 48-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman were struck by paintballs shot from a passing white, four-door vehicle;

• at 7:33 p.m. on Ashbury Avenue near Dempster Street when a 45-year-old man was struck by paintballs as he rode his bike, police said.

The 48-year-old shot on Emerson Street was struck in his left eye and taken to Evanston Hospital in order to have surgery in an attempt to repair the damage, police said.
