An Oswego man was convicted Tuesday of paying for a sexual encounter with a child in 2014.

Eric F. Ziemba, 42, traveled to an Aurora hotel to have a sexual encounter with who Ziemba believed to be a 15-year-old girl on Dec. 2, 2014, according to the Kane County state’s attorney office.

When Ziemba arrived at the hotel, he met a woman who he thought was the girl’s mother, prosecutors said. He paid the woman $150 and was then arrested by Homeland Security Investigations officers and Aurora police.

Ziemba, of the 700 block of Wilmore Drive in Oswego, was charged with involuntary sexual servitude of a minor, traveling to meet a minor and grooming, prosecutors said.

His $30,000 bond was revoked upon conviction and Ziemba has been taken into custody, prosecutors said. He is next expected to appear in court at 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 16 for sentencing.

In addition to a prison sentence, Ziemba must register as a sexual offender for 10 years.
