Woman killed in Antioch crash

A 26-year-old woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash Monday night in unincorporated north suburban Antioch.

Officers responding to the crash about 10:15 p.m. found a 2011 Chevrolet HHR with major damage near West North Avenue and Burning Bush Lane, according to a statement from the Lake County sheriff’s office.

The vehicle, driven by 26-year-old Megan E. Rail, was traveling west on North when, for an unknown reason, she lost control and the vehicle struck a tree, police said.

Rail, who lived in Round Lake Beach, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

It was not immediately known whether speed, drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash, which remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
