A 17-year-old boy was shot and killed Sunday afternoon in the South Chicago neighborhood.

About 12 p.m., the boy was walking in the 8200 block of South Houston when a person approached on foot and opened fire, striking the teen in the abdomen, police said.

The boy, identified as Marc Williams of the 8100 block of South Coles, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 12:38 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
