GRADING THE BEARS: Week 10 vs. Packers

SHARE GRADING THE BEARS: Week 10 vs. Packers

QUARTERBACK

F

Jay Cutler helped put the Bears in an early hole with a changeup to Martellus Bennett that was intercepted by safety Micah Hyde. He was 12-for-23 for 145 yards and a 53.7 rating as the Bears fell behind 42-0 at the half.

RUNNING BACKS

D

Matt Forte wasn’t given much of a chance and never had one. Bears had two rushes before they were down 14-0. Forte gained 35 yards on nine carries as the Bears fell behind 42-0 at the half.

WIDE RECEIVERS

F

Once upon a time, Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery were the best WR duo in the NFL. Those days are long gone. They combined for eight catches for 74 yards as the Bears fell behind 42-0 at the half.

OFFENSIVE LINE

F

The line actually gave Cutler good protection on some early throws, but he was intercepted on one of them and missed on another. Jermon Bushrod and Jordan Mills had penalties as the Bears fell behind 42-0 at the half.

DEFENSIVE LINE

F

What defensive line? Even with Jared Allen and Jeremiah Ratliff, the Bears almost never laid a hand on quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The Bears had no sacks of Rodgers as they fell behind 42-0 at the half.

LINEBACKERS

F

Lance Briggs and Jon Bostic returned from injury but were bowled over with the rest of the linebacking corps. Briggs did force a fumble, but the Bears fell behind 42-0 at the half.

DEFENSIVE BACKS

F

Despite a game effort by Ryan Mundy, this was an embarrassing display of coverage and tackling. Mundy had seven tackles and a fumble recovery, but the Bears fell behind 42-0 at the half.

SPECIAL TEAMS

F

The debacle started with Chris Williams returning the opening kickoff from eight yards deep in the end zone to the 12. A penalty on Christian Jones put the offense at the Packers’ 6.

COACHING

F-

After a week of self-scouting, reflection and rededication, this is the best Marc Trestman and his staff can do? A second consecutive embarrassing loss coming after a bye week is a fireable offense in most organizations.
