(CRYSTAL LAKE) An elderly woman was injured when four vehicles collided Tuesday afternoon in northwest suburban Crystal Lake.

The crash happened about 1 p.m. at the intersection of Route 14 and Crystal Lake Avenue, police said in a statement.

A 1998 Ford Contour turned onto Route 14 from a private driveway, then collided with a 2005 Saturn Ion and another vehicle that drove off, police said.

The Ford continued and hit a westbound 2009 Cadillac Escalade that had come to a stop in traffic, police said.

The driver of the Ford, 81-year-old Crystal Lake resident Mary Beyer, was cited for failure to yield and improper lane usage. She was taken to Centegra Hospital in McHenry for non-life-threatening injuries.

No one else was hurt in the crash, police said.
