(OAK BROOK) A driver was ticketed after his vehicle crashed into a Neiman Marcus store and several other vehicles Monday at a west suburban mall.
The 68-year-old Warrenville man was trying to back out of a parking space at Oakbrook Center about 3 p.m. when he inadvertently accelerated and struck a parked car, police said.
That caused a chain-reaction crash that ultimately hit two other vehicles, police said. When the man then tried to reverse, he backed into two more vehicles and ultimately crashed through the south vestibule of Neiman Marcus at 6 Oakbrook Center, police said.
No one was inside the vestibule or the other parked cars at the time, police said. He and a passenger were treated and released from Elmhurst Hospital.
The driver was cited for improper backing and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
