Belgian prime minister pelted with fries, mayonnaise

President Barack Obama has been heckled.

Former President George W. Bush had a shoe thrown at him.

But what about being in the middle of a political food fight?

That honor goes to Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel, who was blasted with fries and mayonnaise at a news conference on Monday — and he took it all in with a smile.

Michel was giving a speech as four activists pelted him with the disgusting combination (I don’t care how they do it in Belgium, mayo should never be put on fries, just like ketchup should never be put on a hot dog).

“Michel out, austerity out,” they cried, according to The Guardian.

The protesters were tacked and Michel resumed his speech, but not before apologizing for smelling like mayo.

Their main beef with Michel stems from his plan to raise the retirement age to 67, scrap a usually automatic cost-of-living raise next year and cut public-sector spending.

It’s not the first time the a politician has been hit with food — but it’s usually with a pie. So Monday’s protesters get bonus points for creativity.

There was that time Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy once took a pie in the face.

Former Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien took a pie square in the pie hole:

When there aren’t any pies around, eggs are a secondary choice.

The men, 18 and 20, were in the 1800 block of West Monroe Street about 9:20 p.m. when two people got out of a light-colored sedan and fired shots. They were hospitalized in fair condition.
