Colin Fraser and John McCarthy are headed back to the NHL.
With roster spots open, the Blues on Wednesday recalled the pair of forwards from the Wolves. Fraser, a member of the Blackhawks’ 2010 Stanley Cup champions, has seven goals and 12 points in 32 games. McCarthy has seven points in 22 appearances for the Wolves, who were loaned former top prospect Magnus Paajarvi on Tuesday.
St. Louis had been expected to bring players up from the Wolves, and that came to pass Wednesday.
“There’s always that chance,” Wolves coach John Anderson said Tuesday.
Both Fraser and McCarthy have extensive NHL experience. Fraser was also a member of the Kings’ two Stanley Cup winners, and his 10-game stint last season with the Manchester Monarchs was his first in the AHL since 2008 with the Rockford IceHogs.
McCarthy has 87 career games with the San Jose Sharks.
