(WHEELING) Two teenage gang members have been charged with a string of home burglaries in northwest suburban Wheeling last month.

Multiple residential burglaries were reported in the village between Nov. 22 and 23, according to a statement from Wheeling police. In each of the incidents, the suspects forced entry into homes and stole items.

Two boys, 14 and 15 years old, were arrested in connection with the burglaries Thursday, police said. Police said they were both street gang members.

Items found on the teens and at their homes were identified as property reported stolen in the burglaries, police said.

Both suspects will be petitioned to Cook County Juvenile Court for burglary and theft, police said.

The Cook County Juvenile Detention Center declined to hold them, and they were released to the custody of their parents, according to police.
