It was probably inevitable that when Britain’s Prince William and his wife, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, took in the Nets-Cavaliers NBA game Monday night in Brooklyn they would cross paths with Beyonce and Jay-Z, as well as hoops superstar LeBron James.

As many had predicted, Beyonce and her hubby (who’s a part owner of the Nets) did approach the royal couple at the game, and according to E! News the two couples engaged in very friendly if brief comments. Reportedly, the short chat focused mostly on family matters — with Bey and Kate talking about their children, comparing Blue Ivy and Prince George’s ages, etc. They also both wished each other a merry Christmas season.

The encounter between Prince William and Kate took place about the time “King” LeBron was presenting the future British king and queen with honorary jerseys, including a tiny one for Prince George. James immediately took to Instagram to post, “This very moment will be forever remembered and put up in my house. It’s all good and all smiles on this side. #Royalty #StriveForGreatness #RWTW #LRMR #Klutch.”

While James was seen in another photo with the royal couple with his arm draped around Kate’s shoulders, the British embassy confirmed to NBC News that no breach of royal protocol occurred, and that the NBA superstar had acted completely properly in the presence of the two royal visitors.

Hours after Williams said he asked the Bears for reasons why the team had a well-worn history of quarterback struggles, GM Ryan Poles said that “we’ve got to stop going back all the time.”
The men, 18 and 20, were in the 1800 block of West Monroe Street about 9:20 p.m. when two people got out of a light-colored sedan and fired shots. They were hospitalized in fair condition.
