Courier-News boys track notes

1. He fuels Storm. South Elgin senior Kyle Kumerow skipped the triple jump — where he is a returning state qualifier — to focus on other events at WW South last week. Kumerow anchored the 400-meter relay to a fourth-place finish with its heat-winning time of 43.75 seconds. He cleared 6 feet, 5 inches in the high jump to place second and added nine inches to his career-best in the pole vault (11-9).

2. Impressive run. Huntley sprinter Connor Boos continues to shine. The junior came back after a razor-thin loss in the 100 (10.99) to claim the McHenry County championship in the 200 with a 22.18.

3. Ringing endorsement. Boos was not the only impressive athlete for Huntley at the McHenry County Invite. Junior Brennan Bell captured the 110 high hurdles with a winning effort of 14.89 seconds, then added the 330 intermediate title by crossing the finish line in 40.53.
