With defending Class 4A state champion Benet and preseason No. 1-ranked Marist, the Wheaton Classic at Wheaton Warrenville South is starting to rival the Mother McAuley’s Asics Challenge as one of the top girls volleyball tournaments in the Chicago area. The Asics Challenge, which features schools from beyond the Chicago area and even California, will be held Sept. 28-29.

The 24-team, two-day Tiger Classic starts Sept. 12. The first of two pool-play matches begins at 5 p.m. and the bracketed finals will be held Sept. 15 at Wheaton Warrenville South.
