No. 6 Lemont scored touchdowns on its first four offensive plays on its way to a 56-0 blanking of Little Village on Friday in Lemont.

The Indians racked up 354 yards of offense against the Phoenix.

“It was a good chance for us to come out and do the things we’ve been working on in practice,” Lemont coach Eric Michaelsen said. “I thought the kids played hard. We made a few mistakes we’ll have to work on next week in practice. We got our young kids some experience this week.”

Defensively, Lemont came up with four interceptions and a pair of blocked punts that led to scores.

A blocked punt by Matt Luzzo set up a 1-yard run by Rick Sniegowski, who also had a 53-yard touchdown run later in the game. Christos Giatras ran 33 yards for a score on the Indians’ second play from scrimmage to make it 14-0 just 47 seconds into the contest. Joe Hehir’s 9-yard touchdown pass from Greg Rizzo made it 21-0 Lemont a little more than three minutes into the contest.

“We wanted to play fast and hard,” Hehir said. “We wanted to play Lemont football and I think we did that.”
