Carl Heinz is the rock ‘n’ roll high jumper. With his flowing hair and distain for warmups, Heinz is a no nonsense jumper whether its during his signature high jump or even the triple and long jumps. The Duke-bound senior from Oak Park-River Forest is the defending Class 3A state champion in the high jump and likes to get the crowd to clap together while he makes an attempt. At Saturday’s Hornet Relays at Hinsdale South, Heinz tied the current national record for the high jump this season with Allex Austin of San Marcos, Texas.
