Young’s Geiger to step down

Bob Geiger, who has coached Young to the past two Public League girls track titles, plans to step down at the end of this season.

Geiger cited time constraints because of his dual roles as the Dolphins’ head coach and an editor with DyeStat Illinois, a track and field website.

He has been at Young since 2006 after previous coaching stints at St. Martin dePorres, Homewood-Flossmoor, Chicago Notre Dame, T.F. North, St. Patrick and Rolling Meadows.

Geiger plans to remain as Young’s girls cross country coach for the 2011 season.
