Gonnella Baking Co. on Thursday recalled some packages of sandwich buns and rolls because a milk product isn’t listed among the ingredients.

The Schaumburg bakery voluntarily recalled 20-ounce packages of Gonnella brand Sub Buns and 20-ounce packages of Jewel brand Gourmet Sandwich Rolls. The company said the products contain whey, which is derived from milk.

The recalled packages were made between Dec. 9 and Jan. 17, and have a “Best By” date of Jan. 25, 2015. The products were shipped to stores in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. Customers are urged to return the packages to the store for a refund.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this event may have caused and have taken preventive action to correct the issue,” the company said in a news release. “In keeping with our traditional company values, our customers should be assured that the great tasting bread and rolls they have grown up with are baked to our highest quality standards.”
