A woman was fatally struck by a Metra train last week on the Union Pacific West Line in west suburban Elmhurst has been identified.
Witnesses told police they saw the woman step in front of inbound train No. 52, scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 4 p.m., at 3:20 p.m. east of the York Road, according to a statement from Elmhurst police.
She has been identified as 89-year-old Patricia C. Johnson of Elmhurst, according to the DuPage County coroner’s office. She was pronounced dead at the scene. She did not have any identification on her at the time.
Preliminary cause of death is traumatic injuries, but the investigation is pending toxicology results, according to the coroner’s office.
