A man was wounded in a shooting Monday night in the West Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

The man, 42, was sitting in a vehicle in the alley in the 100 block of South Pulaski about 11:45 p.m. when a male got into the passenger seat and displayed a handgun, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.

The two got into a struggle and the gun discharged, striking the man in the right calf, Alfaro said.

He drove himself to Swedish Covenant Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, Alfaro said.
