A norovirus outbreak at a northwest suburban senior home has forced county election officials to relocate a polling place for Tuesday’s election.
St. Joseph’s Home at 80 W. Northwest Hwy. in Palatine was placed under quarantine on April 3 for a virus, Sister Marguerite McCarthy said.
The norovirus outbreak was first discovered March 31 and appears to be nearing its end, according to Sister Diane of St. Joseph’s Home. But she said it occurred at an “unfortuante time” with the Easter holiday and election.
St. Joseph’s was going to be the polling place for Palatine’s 14th precinct, according to the Cook County clerk’s office. The new polling place will be the Palatine Public Library at 700 N. North Ct.
Residents will vote on five races Tuesday, including three councilman positions, the clerk’s office website shows.
