Rich Josepher emailed last week that Mike Zunica, coach of St. Rita, the nation’s top-ranked baseball team, “hit a home run today!’’ with this batch of morels found somewhere around Chicago outdoors.

We are in the middle of a very good run of morels this spring. There have been lots of submissions of morel stories and photos, best year in a while by my recollections.

Morel of the Week, a celebration of finding morels around Chicago outdoors, runs on the Sun-Times outdoors page on Sundays when apt, generally through May.
