A 23-year-old man was shot and critically injured early Saturday in the West Rogers Park neighborhood on the North Side.

About 3 a.m., he was standing in an alley in the 6300 block of North Washtenaw when someone in a passing dark-colored SUV opened fire, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.

The man was struck in the leg, torso and back, Alfaro said. He was taken in critical condition to Presence Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston.
