A Wisconsin man died in a Saturday morning collision with a semi-truck on Interstate 90 near Elgin.

The crash happened about 6:10 a.m. on westbound I-90 by mile post 53, which is near Fox Lane, according to police.

A preliminary investigation shows that 23-year-old Lavon Deangelo Woods lost control of a tan 2004 Buick Regal, which crashed into the truck parked on the right shoulder, police said. He was wearing his seatbelt.

Woods, of Beloit, Wisc., was pronounced dead at the scene by the Kane County coroner’s office, police said. No other injuries were reported.

The right lane on westbound I-90 near the crash was closed until about 10 a.m. as authorities investigated, police said.
