White Sox catcher Geovany Soto was named the club’s Heart and Hustle Award winner Tuesday, the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association announced.

“A true gamer that comes to play hard every day,” Mark Salas, eight-year MLB veteran and former White Sox catcher, said in a statement.

The award honors active players who demonstrate a passion for the game of baseball and best embody the values, spirit and tradition of the game. The Heart and Hustle Award is also the only award in Major League Baseball that is voted on by former players.

One player from each team is chosen for the award and will be recognized before an upcoming home game. Then, as the season draws to a close, fans, all alumni and active players will vote to select the final winner from among the 30 team winners.

The final winner will be announced on November 10,2015 at the 16th Annual Legends for Youth Dinner in New York City.
