Man shot to death in Gary

A man was shot to death early Tuesday in Gary, Indiana.

Police found Darnell Jones, 30, lying outside with multiple gunshot wounds about 12:40 a.m. in the 2000 block of Carolina Street, according to Gary police and the Lake County coroner’s office.

Officers were first called to that block on reports of a person down, authorities said. Jones, of the 2100 block of Kentucky Street in Gary, was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy found that Jones suffered multiple gunshot wounds, and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the Lake County coroner’s office.

The Lake County/Gary Metro Homicide Unit is investigating the incident, according to police. Anyone with information is asked to contact authorities at (312) 755-3852.
