The Cubs’ nine-game winning streak is over, but their tremendous week continued to move them up the national power rankings.

Last week the Cubs were big movers, jumping from double-digits up to the No. 5 spot.

Now they’re up to No. 4 in ESPN’s power rankings and fifth in MLB.com’s as their torrid run continued for a second straight week.

In both cases there are three teams from the NL Central in the top five. The Cubs trail the Cardinals and Pirates in both polls.

Here’s what ESPN said about the Cubs’ rise:

The last time the Cubs went on a streak like their current one was 2008, when they made the playoffs. If they play just .500 baseball the rest of the way, they will win 90 games. — Joe Aiello (@VFTB), View from the Bleachers
