Fire lose 3-2 at Toronto

TORONTO (AP) — Sebastian Giovinco broke the MLS single-season points record, assisting on two goals in Toronto FC’s 3-2 victory over the Chicago Fire on Saturday to push his total to 35.

Giovinco tied the mark of 34 set by Chris Wondolowski with San Jose in 2012 with an assist on Jonathan Osorio’s goal that tied it at 1 in the 29th minute. The Italian star broke the mark with an assist on Michael Bradley’s tying goal in the 59th minute. Giovinco has 19 goals and 16 assists with four games left.

Jozy Altidore scored the winning goal for Toronto (13-13-4) in the 79th minute.

Former Toronto player Gilberto scored twice for Chicago (7-18-6).
