SHARE 74-year-old woman fatally struck by truck in Gold Coast

A 74-year-old woman died after she was struck by a truck Tuesday morning in the Gold Coast neighborhood on the Near North Side.

The woman was struck by a turning truck in the 1100 block of North LaSalle at 11:55 a.m., according to Chicago Police.

Georgiana Henley of the 300 block of West Hill was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 2:05 p.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Police initially said the truck driver was taken into custody, but Wednesday afternoon said no charges or citations were filed.

The police Major Accidents Investigation Unit is investigating.
