Authorities have determined that a man who was initially thought to have been wounded in a shooting Tuesday night in the McKinley Park neighborhood on the South Side was not actually shot.

The 32-year-old suffered an injury to his hand about 10:30 p.m. in the 2200 block of West Pershing, according to Chicago Police.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with what was thought to be a gunshot wound, but doctors later determined that he had not been shot, police said. His condition was stabilized.

The man was being uncooperative with investigators early Wednesday, and it was not immediately clear how he became injured, police said.
