Illinois State Police are investigating shots fired on the Eisenhower Expressway Monday morning on the West Side.

People inside a white car and a black vehicle were shooting at each other about 11 a.m. while heading east on I-290 near Kedzie Avenue, according to Illinois State Police.

The white car was involved in a crash and pulled off the expressway at Sacramento, police said.

No injuries were reported from the shooting or the crash.

The eastbound lanes of the expressway were closed at Independence for the investigation and reopened at 1:30 p.m., police said. Shell casings were recovered from the scene.
