Tom Schwab of Beverly bagged a life-time buck, a 12-pointer in McDonough County, two hours into Illinois’ first firearm season on Nov. 18.

“He field-dressed at 200 pounds,’’ his hunting buddy Steve Pearse emailed. “Tom is mounting the cape!’’

Capping a good hunt.

BOTW, the celebration of big bucks and good stories, runs Wednesdays when apt on the Sun-Times outdoors page. The story part matters as much as the big buck part, generally.
