A woman was critically injured when she was struck by a car Thursday evening in north suburban Round Lake.

The 30-year-old Round Lake resident was involved in a traffic crash about 6:15 p.m. on Route 120 at Fairfield Road in unincorporated Round Lake, according to a statement from the Lake County sheriff’s office. No injuries were reported in the crash.

A relative of the woman arrived at the scene before sheriff’s deputies, and the woman got into her relative’s car to wait for authorities to arrive, the sheriff’s office said. A short time later, she got out of her family member’s car and tried to cross Route 120 on foot. While crossing, she was hit by an eastbound Nissan Versa.

The woman was taken to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with critical injuries, according to the sheriff’s office. No one in the Nissan was injured.

The Nissan’s driver, a 33-year-old McHenry man, remained at the scene and was cooperating with investigators, the sheriff’s office said. No citations had been issued as of Friday morning, but the crash remains under investigation by the sheriff’s Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
